Lovely state park with easy running trails, we did three trails on a lovely winter afternoon with family. We walked through the simple Japanese garden to start. And oh, it’s $5 (per person I think), but I’m happy to pay for lovely trails. I think the playgrounds are nice, but we didn’t get a chance to play :) And the visitor center is nice with clean bathrooms. Reaching the place from Nashville took two hours and it was a breath of fresh air. Be warned that you have to go up to the mountain and there is fog that comes and goes, just drive slow in the fog, playing peek a boo with gorgeous sunshine. What I loved about it is that the trails are run-able at least the three we did: North Plateau, South Plateau, and part of the Fire Tower Trail. Also, some lovely vistas and the trails are well marked. The people were lovely too, with pets all leashed. We also saw three deer that darted off when we were running.

January 22, 2026 | 08:08 AM Weather: Cloudy, mid-40s°F. Abby and I enjoyed a scenic walk of over six miles through the Madison County Nature Trail and the surrounding neighborhood. Both the trail and the streets were impeccably kept—clean, quiet, and peaceful. During our two-hour trek, we only encountered two men and one dog, all of whom were very friendly. With light traffic and calm surroundings, it was a wonderful start to a perfect day.

Pretty awesome sight to see. Worth the hike. Caves are closed to the public unless there's an event. I guess the falling rock issue is ok if you pay for an event. Not sure how that works. But the caves look cool.
