Box Springs Mountain Reserve is located on 3,400 beautiful acres of land that overlook the cities of Riverside and Moreno Valley. The Reserve once was covered in dense Coastal Sage Scrub, but recent wildfires have allowed non-native grasses to thrive. Visitors should be conscious of their activities while visiting the Reserve in order to protect wildlife and their delicate ecosystem.
Absolutely recommend! Quite a few trails to go through. Everyone can do this. Some slopes may seem steep but they aren’t. I have back issues so I needed to pace myself and that’s all. Stairs on multiple parts as well. Of course many donkeys all around. You can hear them. Very friendly animals. They will come straight up to you so just be cautious if you get scared. We did see a coyote as we walked our trail coming back down. So again be cautious and aware of the surroundings. There is a portable toilet. It was surprisingly clean but did smell. I always bring wipes and stuff to use. I didn’t see a water fountain but there are 3 picnic tables I believe. We went at 10am, Plenty of parking. As you drive up to the parking you see many donkeys and please drive carefully bc they will stand in the street.
I throughly enjoyed this place. Definitely one I will come back to again and again.

Great hiking trail! Great for kids. It's about 1hr to 2hrs hike to the M. Will recommend anyone willing to challenge themselves this is the spot to do it! There is a small $5 dollar fee closer to the trail entrance it's optional but I always like to donate so the park rangers can keep the park clean and help out the communit. Dont leave personal belongs in the car because you never know. Enjoy the hike!

Wildwood Canyon State Park (855 acres) preserves a remarkable remnant of the original San Bernardino foothills and high desert ecosystem, serving as a vital refuge for wildlife including mule deer, bobcats, black bears, mountain lions, and coyotes. The property also holds deep historical significance as a former crossroads for indigenous peoples and later a ranching settlement.
I’d never heard of this place and found it thanks to checking out a state park pass from my library and seeing what wasn’t far. What a beautiful gem of a place! Plenty of smaller hikes that can be connected to make a longer hike around the perimeter. My dog and I loved it and did about five miles of hiking total.
