The Legacy Museum, located in Montgomery, Alabama, is an immersive, 11,000-square-foot institution established by the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) to explore the history of racial inequality in the U.S. Situated on a former cotton warehouse site, it uses interactive technology and art to trace the evolution of white supremacy from slavery to modern mass incarceration.
One of the best museums that I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. The staff at the museum are all very professional and friendly. The museum is immaculate and the price for admission is very reasonable. You are not allowed to take pictures in the museum which was fine because I was so impressed, I purchased 3 books, 3 tee shirts, a hoodie, ornaments and a magnet. We also had a wonderful tour guide Ann Clemons. The tour did get quite emotional for me at one point and I was glad that they have benches to sit. The art in the museum is breathtaking and the history behind the stories can get overwhelming at times, but I was comfortable at being uncomfortable. The pictures that I’ve posted are from the park across the street from the museum. The other pictures are from The National Museum for Peace and Justice. A very solemn visit but one that is a necessity. The visit to Freedom Monument Sculpture Park was breathtaking and beautiful. If you ever get a chance to go to Montgomery,AL please visit these and the other museums in and around Montgomery. I will go back again.
The Montgomery Zoo at 2301 Coliseum Pkwy, Montgomery, AL, is a 42-acre facility featuring animals from five continents, including tigers, giraffes, and elephants.
The zoo has a wonderful light display, but the first time since visiting the train had to have to have maintenance. They have a major renovation to the front gate. Overall it was still a wonderful time with family and the soup and sandwiches were good.
Alabama Safari Park in Hope Hull is a 350-acre, family-friendly drive-thru adventure featuring over 45 species of animals like giraffes, zebras, and llamas.
A absolutely must visit!!! We have been wanting to stop here. So we stopped here on our way back to Fla after Christmas and we LOVED it. Its the drive-thru animal park. The have llamas, goats 🐐, Scottish cows , zebras , giraffes 🦒, turtles 🐢 kangaroos, peacock 🦚, bisons 🦬, deers 🦌, camels 🐫, pigs and several other animals. Your family will definitely have a good time. They also have a gift shop to buy a gift.
