About The Historic Sunset Camp
The Historic Sunset Camp once accommodated around 300 residents in tin cabins and tents, providing many families with a safe place to live. This sense of security helped foster a close-knit community that even established a school, which later became the foundation for the Weedpatch Camp. In its early days, the camp was made up of canvas tents set on plywood platforms, along with a few permanent structures. Today, the remaining historic buildings can be found in a fenced area at the northeast corner of the site, preserving an important part of its history.

Went here for Dust Bowl Days. My grandparents and father lived here back when it was an "Okie" camp. I'm proud of my roots and blessed that they have marked this historical. When I pass through with friends, I always stop by and show them my family roots. I'm proud of this small little corner.
