I had the pleasure of taking classes from this gifted teacher and deeply wonderful human being, Nives Wetzel de Cedial, almost two decades ago, at another dance studio. Coming back to Berkeley like a homing pigeon, I had the pleasure last night of being part of Nives’ Brazilian dance class at the Beat. She greeted me with astonishment and welcoming hugs that warmed my heart—and then, once class started, I was there again in body and soul, in that immersive world of Brazilian dance, embraced by the goddess.
