About Magnolia Music School
Magnolia Music School is a creative home for young musicians in Oakland. They offer private lessons, group classes, and youth choirs that emphasize expression over perfection, often with an indie folk/pop vibe. Our approach is student-centered, and rooted in real-world musicianship. Whether kids are learning their first chords, writing original songs, or harmonizing with friends, they meet them where they are with warmth.

This is one of the best most inclusive music schools I’ve ever encountered. Kat and her team are amazing with kids. No matter the level, they manage to bring the best out of them, encouraging them to take changes and try new things, and be everything they can be. Most importantly they are fantastic music instructors, teaching skills these kids will take forward throughout their lives. I highly recommend this school for kids who want a less structured more relaxed and fun version of learning to play and sing their favorite music.
