About Temescal Regional Recreation Area

Temescal Regional Recreation Area is a picturesque 48-acre regional park centered around Lake Temescal in Oakland, California. Managed by the East Bay Regional Park District, the park opened to the public in 1936 and has become one of the East Bay's most popular urban recreation destinations. Originally created as a drinking water reservoir in 1869, the lake now offers swimming, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and scenic lakeside relaxation.

beautiful sometimes smelly lake. the ducks are super chill. bathrooms are pretty accessible. the waterfall is nice when they turn it on. there’s only a couple benches by the water but they do have larger areas with wood tables and lots of open grass to spread out blankets and play
