About Llano del Rio Collective
Llano del Rio Collective is a historic site and cultural organization based in Llano, California, dedicated to preserving and sharing the legacy of the Llano del Rio Cooperative Colony, one of the most significant non-religious utopian communities in American history. The collective conducts research, develops educational resources, publishes self-guided history materials, and promotes public awareness of the colony's social, architectural, and political history through tours, exhibitions, and community programs. The original colony was founded in 1914 by socialist leader Job Harriman and operated until 1918.
